In Jammu and Kashmir, campaigning for the first phase of local bodies elections ended this morning, 24 hours before the start of voting. 422 wards spread across all the three regions of the state will go to poll tomorrow.

The fate of 1,283 candidates trying their luck from 247 wards in Jammu region, 149 in Kashmir Valley and 26 in Ladakh will be sealed in the EVMs. Elaborate security plan has been put in place for the smooth conduct of the polls.

State Governor Satya Pal Malik yesterday took a detailed review of the security situation in the state . The meeting was attended by top officials from Army, Police, CRPF, intelligence agencies and civil administration.
