Earlier, India declared their first innings at 649 for nine. Apart from centuries by the Skipper Virat Kohli, who made 139 and Prithvi Shaw 134, Ravindra Jadeja also made his maiden century. He was not out at 100. Rishabh Pant made 92 and Cheteshwar Pujara 86.
Mohammed Shami took two wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajay Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav took one each.
