14 people mostly students aged between 16 to 18 years died in a tragic fire incident in Aliganj area of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh this afternoon. The fire broke out at an animation coaching centre operating above a shop in puraniya area of Aliganj, triggering panic among students. Four students got injured and have been admitted to the KGMC Lucknow.
The blaze reportedly erupted inside the institute building and spread rapidly, trapping people inside. It was a shopping complex having coaching, game zone and showrooms in it.
Fire brigade teams, police personnel and district administration officials rushed to the spot and launched rescue and evacuation efforts. Some people tried to save their lives by jumping from the first floor. Firefighters broke through the wall and entered the building.
Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak said that the high level committee comprising DGP and additional chief secretary of the state will investigate the matter and find the reasons behind the fire so that such kind of incidents never happen in future.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath visited the fire site and hospital. After the incident, the Chief Minister spoke to the state DGP and Additional Chief Secretary (Home). He said that the culprits will not be spared.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in a fire mishap in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In a social media post, he announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from Prime Minister National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each deceased.
The injured would be given 50 thousand rupees. Mr Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. The Prime Minister also prayed for the recovery of the injured. He said that rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance.
