Amit Panghal bags Gold medal in men’s 49 kg category

In the 18th Asian Games being held in Indonesia, India added two more golds in its kitty today in Boxing and Bridge event taking the Gold tally to 15.
Boxer Amit Panghal defeated reigning Olympic champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan in the final of Men’s Light Flyweight 49 kilogram category. Amit Panghal was the lone boxer left in the fray.
The second gold medal of the day came in the bridge Men’s Pair event where Pranab Bardhan and Shibhnath Sarkar finished top of the table with 384 points. They defeated the Chinese pair Liain Yang and Gang Chen by six points.
With these two Golds India is in 8th position in the table with 67 medals comprising 15 gold, 23 Silver and 29 Bronze. China leads the medals tally followed by Japan.
The other major final of the day comes from the squash arena where India’s women’s team will fight for gold against Hong Kong after they beat the more fancied Malaysians on Friday.
India ends their men’s Hockey campaign by playing a bronze medal match against arch-rival Pakistan today. All India Radio will broadcast off-tube commentary on the match from 3.55 p.m onwards.

This broadcast will be in addition to off-tube commentary by All India Radio on the final of men’s hockey match between Malaysia and Japan today.
