India won the first Cricket test against the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs. The West Indies were all out for 196 in their second innings. Kuldeep Yadav’s maiden 5-wicket haul tumbled the visitors. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin two in the second innings.

Earlier in the day, spinner Ashwin produced a brilliant spell as India enforced a follow-on against the West Indies after bowling out the visitors for 181 in their first innings. The final scores: India – 649/9 declared. West Indies 181 and 196.

The second and final test will be played from the 12th of this month at Hyderabad. Thereafter, India and West Indies will play five ODIs and three T20s.
