Stage set for 2nd & final phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections for tomorrow; last day for filing of nominations in Rajasthan and Telangana

Chhattisgarh goes to the polls tomorrow to elect 72 members in the second phase of elections to the State Assembly. This time, the coalition between the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former chief minister Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) has added another dimension to the electoral politics of Chhattisgarh.

Jogi’s Janata Congress Chattisgarh has fielded 55 candidates while BSP is fighting in 33 seats. Earlier, elections have always been dominated by the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. Both national parties BJP and Congress have fielded candidates in all constituencies.

In Telangana, the deadline for filing nominations is coming to a close this afternoon. Over 1490 nominations have been filed in all 119 Assembly constituencies till now. The scrutiny of nominations will take place tomorrow and candidatures can be withdrawn by Thursday.

Today is the last date for filing of nominations for elections to Rajasthan Assembly. The last date for scrutiny of nomination papers will take place tomorrow and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is Thursday (22nd of November).

The polling will take place on the 7th of December in a single phase. Rajasthan Assembly has 200 seats. Counting of votes will take place on 11th of December for all five States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana.
