The Cabinet today approved broad gauge railway line between Bahraich and Khalilabad at a cost of around 5,000 crore rupees. Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the line will be completed by 2024-25. He said:

The Minister said, the railway line will cross through four aspirational districts of Uttar Pradesh and Buddhist Tourism Circuit which will promote tourism. He said, the Cabinet has also increased the charge of ASHA workers from 250 rupees to 300 rupees per visit. He said, the decision will benefit 1 crore health workers in the country.
The Cabinet has also given its nod to create Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund with over 7,500 crore rupees. Mr Prasad said, the decision will give a fillip to Aquaculture in country.

The Cabinet has also cleared the constitution of a High Level Steering Committee for periodically reviewing and refining the National Indicator Framework for monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals.

The Committee will be chaired by Chief Statistician of India and Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Data source Ministries and Departments will be responsible for providing regular information to Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation at required intervals. Advanced IT tools will be used for close and effective monitoring.

Sustainable Development Goals integrate economic, social and environmental dimensions of development. They intend to eradicate poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world with basic motto of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’.The Cabinet also announced Adjudicating Authority and Appellate Authority for Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Act.

Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad also said, Indian Institute of Skills on Public Private Partnership Model will be created in four cities across India. He said, the Cabinet also approved creation of post of Director for the six AIIMS institutions announced earlier.

The Minister said, the Cabinet was apprised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred the Seoul Peace Prize which highlights his efforts for economic development, all encompassing developmental goals, attack against corruption through GST and demonetisation.
