Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. The four-day event, which began yesterday, showcases India’s remarkable progress in telecommunications, digital connectivity and technological innovation. The theme of IMC 2026 is ‘Scale Without Boundaries’, reflecting India’s growing capabilities in digital innovation, next-generation connectivity and technology-led growth.

Inaugurating the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress, PM Modi said the platform has witnessed the evolution of India’s telecom sector and digital connectivity over the years. He said the platform has emerged as a showcase of India’s progress and aspirations.

The Prime Minister said 5G connectivity has reached every district of the country. He added that there are now more than five lakh 50 thousand base stations operating 5G connectivity across India. He said the government is now working to connect around 25 crore students through various digital and online education platforms.

Prime Minister Modi said digital connectivity has powered education, healthcare and government services. He said that even children in remote villages and those from poor families are now able to access quality knowledge. PM Modi said that over the past 10 to 12 years, mobile phones have emerged not only as a medium of modern communication but also as a crucial tool for good governance.

PM Modi highlighted the growing importance of digital education in India through the DIKSHA platform. He said that during the COVID-19 period, DIKSHA recorded over 500 crore learning sessions and approximately six thousand crore learning minutes by July 2022.

On the occasion, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that in 2014, one gigabyte of data cost 268 rupees, whereas today it costs only around eight rupees, making India one of the countries with the cheapest data in the world.
