In Denmark Open Badminton, Saina Nehwal has stormed into quarterfinals of women’s singles in Odense on Thursday. She defeated Japan’s World number two Akane Yamaguchi 21-15,21-17. This is Saina’s first win on Yamaguchi in last four years.

Saina will take on Nojomi Okuhara of Japan tomorrow.
In Men’s Singles, seventh seed Srikanth will take on China’s Lin Dan and Sameer Verma will face Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.

Another Indian in the fray, B Sai Praneeth lost to Huang Yuxiang of China, 21-12, 14-21, 15-21 in the first round match last night.

In the Women’s Doubles Round-of-16, the pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy will battle it out against the seventh-placed South Korean team of Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan.
