After racking up records in school cricket and domestic cricket, 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw marked his Test debut today with a commanding 99-ball hundred against the West Indies on Day 1 of the opening Test at Rajkot.

Electing to bat, India were 364 for 4 at stumps.

Shaw became the second youngest Indian to score a Test century and fourth youngest Test centurion on debut.

Earlier, India got off to a nightmare start, losing KL Rahul for a duck in the very first over of the match.

However, Prithvi Shaw stitched a 206-run stand alongside Cheteshwar Pujara before Pujara fell for 86. Later Shaw was out at his score of 134. Ajinkya Rahane contributed 41 runs.

Skipper Virat Kohli on 72 and R.R.Pant with 17 remained unbeaten when the stumps were drawn.

India will look to maintain their status in the ICC Test rankings during the two-match Test series against the West Indies. India lead the table with 115 points.
