Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the theme of India-AI Impact Summit 2026 is Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya, meaning welfare for all and happiness for all, which reflects the country’s shared commitment to harnessing Artificial Intelligence for human-centric progress. The five-day event opened today in New Delhi to packed halls and long queues.

In a social media post, Mr Modi said, it is a matter of immense pride for the countrymen that people from all over the world are coming to the country for the India AI Impact Summit. He extended a warm welcome to world leaders, industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, researchers and tech enthusiasts from across the world for the Summit. He emphasised that the occasion is proof that the country is progressing rapidly in the field of science and technology, making an important contribution to global development. He added that the event also shows the capability of the country’s youth.

The India-AI Impact Summit is the first-ever global Artificial Intelligence (AI) summit to be hosted in the Global South. Tech moguls, industry leaders, policymakers, founders, and technologists are thronging the venue of the world’s largest AI Summit. The five-day Summit positions India as a convenor and partner in global AI cooperation, supporting shared standards, collaborative frameworks, and scalable solutions for the public good. Over a hundred countries have been invited to take part in the Summit, and more than two lakh people have registered online.

World leaders from twenty nations are scheduled to attend the event, including the Presidents of France, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, and Sri Lanka,the UAE’s Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the Prime Ministers of Netherlands, Mauritius and Bhutan.

The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 is guided by three foundational pillars, or Sutras, which articulate the core principles guiding global cooperation on Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence is a key enabler of India’s development journey, strengthening governance and improving public service delivery. The five-day Summit will bring together global leaders, policymakers, technology companies, innovators, and experts to showcase and deliberate on the transformative potential of AI across governance, innovation, and sustainable development. On the first day of the India AI Impact Summit today, panel discussions are being held on a range of topics at Bharat Mandapam and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. This includes the Future of Employability in the Age of AI, Harnessing AI to Transform India’s Judicial Ecosystem, AI for Road Safety: Data-Driven Solutions for Enhancing Road Safety in India and AI for Smart and Resilient Agriculture. Recognising the strategic importance of AI, India has accorded high priority to building a robust and inclusive AI ecosystem. Initiatives such as the India AI Mission, development of AI compute infrastructure, promotion of indigenous AI models, and large-scale capacity-building programmes are laying a strong foundation for responsible and trusted AI adoption in the country.
